This popular shop from the 9th ward just moved and reopened at the end of January this year. Although it is almost always a lively area, when it comes to food the Chatelet neighborhood can be a hard place to find great restaurants, making this an address you’ll definitely want to know. Even though it is a great café, the fact that you can get a meal there non-stop from noon to night makes it pretty convenient. From the light grey exterior, to the floor tiles, to the counter top, it's a fashionable bistro of a more current style. But the food that comes out is of a more refined, restaurant quality. The designation "Restaurant Bar" fits is just perfectly.

Although they were only serving their normal dinner menu at the time (the Prefix Course for €29), they did allow me to also choose from the lunch menu after a bit of begging. For the appetizers we had canele style gingerbread with foie gras and curry flavored risotto. Lemongrass and ginger marinated beef steaks and blackened bream were the main dishes. And dessert was a sampler of three items including homemade tiramisu and caramelized apple shortbread. Coincidentally, the menu changes at regular intervals, but you can check on it at the restaurant’s blog (in French).

Although the food is modern, it’s not strange or too wild, and instead has the kind of flavor that you can relax and enjoy. And because the food isn’t particularly greasy and the portions are reasonable this is a restaurant that is perfect for a Japanese person.(2008-05-13)
