Paris is a good size to discover on foot and by public transportation. The Metro is one of the symbols of Paris but still very convenient, the bus gives you a nice Parisian views and RER
takes you to monuments in the suburbs like Château
de Versailles. Enjoy your trip, making the best use
of them!

METRO
The 'Metropolitain' network covers
the entire city. The distance between two metro
stations is very short, only about 2 or 3 minutes
from one station to another. So don't worry even if
you miss your station, you still can walk. If you
are lost, try to look for The 'M' sign of metro,
which will tell you where you are.

BUS
Taking bus is a good way to discover Paris. Don't forget to valid your ticket by the small box located next to the conductor's seat.
If you have to use many different metro lines to get to somewhere, try to see if there is no bus that takes you there directly. However, since traffic jams are very frequent in Paris, we don't recommend taking bus if you are in hurry.

RER
RER trains link Paris to its suburbs. We recommend planning in advance which train you take because it's more complicated than metro. The distance between two stations is also longer, so you had better not miss your station.

REMARKS
Check the zone of the destination before buying your
ticket so that you pay the appropriate fare. There
is no possibility for fare adjustment at the
destination, so if you make a mistake, you will have
a penalty to pay.
Especially in RER trains, keep your ticket with you until the destination. Passengers are frequently controlled by agents and the ticket is required to get out of the station, which is not the case in the metro.
One single ticket allows a one-way trip, without interchange, whatever the length of the journey.
Interchange between metro and RER is possible only within Paris. |
