The 3 star chef of ‘Grand Véfour’ on Palais Royal, Guy Martin opened this second restaurant in September, 2006. Sensing’s decor is very contemporary using white and purple, a big difference from his main restaurant known for its Art Deco interior. Artistic videos projected on the white wall illuminate the hall. The service is as caring as restaurants with Michelin stars. While other famous chefs’ second restaurants are mostly more casual than their main ones, Guy Martin, with Sensing, seems to aim at another star in Michelin guide.
Its cuisine is light but tasty and beautifully presented. I loved my appetizer, stuffed cuttlefish with clams and the main course, roasted beef accompanied with gnocchi perfumed with truffle. The dessert, cherry and white chocolate mousse, made me happy as well. The lunchtime course(appetizer, main course, dessert, two glasses of wine, half-bottle mineral water) for 55 euros is really good cost performance. Put on your glad rags and try this brand new restaurant.(2007-02-22)
