The museum building used to be a magnificent Haussmann
style residence of banker Edouard André and his wife, Nellie
Jacquemart, who were both avid art collectors in the end of
the 19th century. Their collection is very rich and various,
from French, Italian, Dutch paintings to Chinese lacquered
furniture. In their former private rooms or library, you can
enjoy the splendid atmosphere of the high society of their
period. The building and its decorations are as interesting
as the collection. We recommend the audio guide that will
give you a better understanding of the life in 19th century.
Principal artists: van Dyck, Rembrandt, David, Botticelli…etc.
