First opened in 1947 at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, Christian Dior is
unquestionably one of the most famous brands in the world. Though Christian Dior was not so young when he made his debut, he became famous very soon as a late-flowering genius. His first collection called "New Look" still remains as one of the most sensational creations in the field of fashion.
It was his assistant, Yves Saint-Laurent, who succeeded Dior after his
sudden death in 1958. And in 1997, British designer John Galliano was named Artistic Director of Dior and has brought a fresh breeze of glamour mixed with street style. His creations keep attracting not only the celebrities but women all over the world.
In 2000, Hedi Slimane's modern style of minimalist has made a huge influence on the world of men's fashion as well as on Dior Homme.
