Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers designed the building of the Pompidou Center. When the Center opened its doors to the public in 1977, most Parisians didn’t like this Avant-garde building in the middle of more traditional buildings. However, more than 30 years later, this outstanding structure blends into the scenes of Paris. The Pompidou Center also houses a public library, music research institute and others, but a definite highlight is the National Museum of Modern Art focused on the 20th century creations: Fauvism, Cubism, Abstract art, Surrealism and Pop art of the 60’, etc. The exhibition, including videos and objects, interests even those who think they don’t understand much of modern and contemporary art. Don’t miss the temporary exhibitions that you can access with the same ticket as the permanent exhibition. The view of Paris from the 6th floor is also wonderful.
The museum shop, where you will find many kinds of beautiful items, can be visited by taking escalator at the entrance.

Principal artists and works: Picasso ‘Painter and Model’, Georges Braque ‘Guéridon’; ‘Billiard’, Man Ray ‘Kiki of Montparnasse’, ‘The Return to the Reason’, Andy Warhol ‘Ten Lizes’, Jackson Pollock ‘Number 26A: black and white’, William Klein ‘Cine-poster, Tokyo’, Matisse, Marcel Duchamp, Francis Bacon, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg…etc.
